Dye sensitized solar cells (DSC)

Currently, solar cells are still the dominant type of silicon produce by various circles. However, because of the limited amount of silicon, the means of production required large and expensive, and the loss of large amounts of silicon during production that can not be avoided, leading to type silicon sollar cells to be very expensive, but the amount has not been how the resulting efficiency (approximately 14-18%).
In 1991, Prof.Graetzel announce publicly the results shocked the researchers solar cells. DSC type solar cell (dye sensitized solar cells) are able to result in efficiencies examined up to 11%, is quite remarkable. Cell type is often referred to as cell Graetzel.Tidak only that, according to the mathematical theory of maximum efficiency of solar cells types of DSC is able to reach 33%, the price is very cheap and easy manufacturing process. This type of solar cell that hope will replace silicon type solar cells. Therefore, research on solar cells of this type became popular in all developed countries.
In Graetzel cells, semiconductors used was TiO2 (Titanium dioxide) and pewarnanya Ruthenium is a type that has a wavelength of light absorption area.
